Frequently asked questions.
Why did you redesign your website?
Our top priorities were to create a faster, better organized site that provides a more streamlined experience for our readers, with a modern look and feel.
Our goal is to empower you — giving you the most important news, informing your purchasing decisions, helping you plan your weekends and igniting your passions.
Whether you have two minutes to skim headlines, or a 30-minute break to dig into our community-focused content, we want you to achieve a sense of accomplishment, knowing you’re informed and connected to the world around you.
Will the focus on strong local journalism continue with the redesign?
Yes. The newsroom will remain as focused as ever on providing readers with local stories, features, photography and other content — but presented in a new modern style.
Will you provide a customer feedback form with the redesign?
Yes. In order to capture users’ feedback we have implemented the Formstack feedback tool. This tool will capture user concerns, as well as ask about overall website experience, likelihood of recommending the site to a friend/family and any other comments.
Will I need to log in again?
You may need to sign in again. We are working to make this as seamless as possible and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this upgrade. The good news is, you can use the same email and password you have today; there is no need to reset your password or re-establish a login.
On the old site, I had to repeatedly log in, every time I visited. Will that still happen?
We have done a lot of work to ensure you are able to log in and access content as smoothly as possible, without having to enter your credentials every time you visit. We think you will be pleased with the login rates and usage of the new platform. As always we are looking at ways to continue to improve.
Is your content still behind a paywall?
Our paywall policy has not changed. Our reporting depends on your continued financial support, and like all other businesses, we cannot provide services for free. Your subscriptions allow us to continue to provide the trusted, reliable journalism you rely on. Some content will remain free, which we provide as a public service during emergency situations including severe weather events or significant breaking news.
How will this change the newsletter(s) I currently receive?
Some changes will be made to our newsletters, to make them more readable — particularly on mobile.
Is the font style or size of the stories changing?
Yes. The new font is more modern, and slightly larger in size on our article pages, making it more readable.
Why is the navigation different?
The new navigation makes it easier to find the content you care about most. Previously driven by traditional print sectioning, our new site highlights the content that is most popular with our digital readers. We’ve based these decisions on deep data, ensuring the most critical content surfaces prominently.
Where is all the older content? Are archives no longer available?
Our site has content that dates back to the beginning of this year, June 1, 2020. Over the coming months, we will restore all the content that was previously on our site.
As a legacy GateHouse advertiser, how will I be impacted?
With this change, clients will now have access to our proprietary ad units that have proven to drive increased engagement and campaign performance: Paramount In-Article, Paramount High Impact and Gravity High Impact.
Existing ad units, including the Sliding Billboard, Edge, Interscroller, Expanding Units, and App Splash, will be sunset and replaced with the better-performing Paramount High Impact. This unit also provides a larger format, and increased load speed.
Also with our new look comes the USA TODAY Network placements. Clients will have the ability to reach their target audiences across our nation-wide network. Their campaigns will no longer be confined to the local site’s domain.
What if I still have questions?
We’d love to hear any questions and feedback. Please click on the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of the homepage to find the person or department you’d like to speak to.
We hope you enjoy the new experience our reimagined website offers. If you have any feedback or questions, we’d like to hear from you. Feel free to email Executive Editor Gregory Mathis.
